DevOps Engineer (Contract)

Leicester, England, United Kingdom

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to work on client side with one of our partners on an initial 3 month contract in Leicestershire.

You will be responsible for supporting and improving our partners' production environments and everything around them. You should have strong Linux skills, be able to script in bash, have used automation (Ansible), and have experience using AWS. Our partner is building automated CI/CD pipelines so any experience with Jenkins will be an advantage. You will also need to understand web (Apache/Nginx) and database technologies (MySQL/Aurora), containerisation (Docker), and container orchestration (ECS). Any knowledge of monitoring (CloudWatch/ELK/Zabbix) and how to integrate these with existing and new services, will also be an advantage. Their aim is to have a fully automated CI/CD pipeline which allows us to deploy with zero downtime and you will play a large part in building this.

There will be a lot to learn! To work successfully within this role, it's important to have significant experience within the LAMP stack. All our microservices run on Nginx, so this is a priority but it’s fine if you are more familiar with Apache or Tomcat. We would expect detailed knowledge of LAMP environments and an engineering mind-set towards picking up new skills around this stack. You'll be confident troubleshooting Linux; the flavour isn't important. We use Centos and Redhat, alongside Amazon Linux on EC2, so experience using any of those would be an advantage.
